Those in favour of this fad in Bollywood argue that skinny is attractive, and this global phenomenon is a great way to grab attention by moving away from the stereotype definition of a bombshell. This concept seems to have brought into Bollywood a breathe of fresh air, redefining a Sex Symbol. It seems to be riding on the mantra, ''If you have it, flaunt it'', giving a renewed sense of confidence to our heroines. Having said this, when talking about our global celebs, Victoria Beckham has been touted by the Indian media as being ''painfully thin'', Beyonce's well rounded butt still has many takers with Kate Winslet's voluptuous figure being a favourite male fantasy. There are many Indian men who still swear by plunging necklines and the orgasmic rush of a peek-a-boo! They can go to any length to preserve this definition of a true diva, who always has ''more'' to show.

Many actresses too have brought out their weapons stating that Indian men would not like to have a size zero woman by their side, and like women to be yummy. Riteish goes back to school in ALADIN

Ritesih Deshmukh has reasons to feel 'nostalgic' these days.

The actor will be seen sporting a school bag in Eros International's ALADIN directed by Sujoy Ghosh. ALADIN is a contemporary look at the classic fairy tale where Riteish plays the title character. However, in Sujoy's version, ALADIN shares nothing other than his name with the protagonist of the famous fairy-tale. Here ALADIN is a shy, young man who is constantly bullied by a certain gang of boys in his college. Since Riteish plays a college student in the film, he was required to carry a bag. The actor suggested using a sling, since that is very popular with the youth today.

However, Director Sujoy insisted on Riteish carrying a typical school bag as it would be a perfect fit with his reclusive character in the film. Riteish immediately disagreed, but later decided to try it out on Sujoy's persuasion. He was given a worn-out brown leather bag by Art director Sabu Cyril to try it on. After giving a few takes with the bag, he discovered, to his own surprise that the bag indeed added that 'authentic' touch to his character in the film and gladly agreed to carry it. Says Riteish, ''Sujoy is a brilliant director and knows exactly what he wants. He was very sure about his portrayal of ALADIN and though I was initially hesitant, I realized that the bag completely matched ALADIN's personality.'' And how was the school-going experience? He laughs ''Carrying that typical 'two-shoulder' school bag initially felt weird, but it was fun too. It was like reliving my school days after all these years!

Rakhi Sawant to get a taste of parenthood

The final episode of NDTV Imagine’s marriage-based reality show, ‘Rakhi Ka Swayamvar’, got the ratings of 8.4 TRPs on August 2, 2009, thus getting the highest score for a non-fiction show till now in 2009.Inspired and all geared up by this, the channel is coming up with yet another show, ‘Pati, Patni Aur Woh’, with five real life television star couples who would be taking up the parenting challenge. The five couples are Rakhi Sawant and her ‘official husband’ Elesh Parujanwala along with four other celebrity couples - Shilpa Saklani and Apurva Agnihotri; Juhi Parmar and Sachin Shroff; Mouni Roy and Gaurav Chopra; and Debina Bonnerjee and Gurmeet Chaudhary.

Nikhil Madhok, vice-president, marketing, NDTV Imagine, explains, “Some time back, there were two-three shows being launched annually and these shows were being replaced after a long period. Now every other month, there is a new launch as channels have at least six-seven new shows lined up for a year.”

The show which is based on ‘The Baby Borrowers (BBC Worldwide Productions)’, will have the contestant couples deal with five stages of parenthood – Dummy pregnancy, handling infants, handling toddles,handling rebellious teenagers and then grown up kids.

Meanwhile, Rakhi has even decided on a name for her child. “I will call her Khushi,” she says. Talking about the concept of the show, she says, “I don’t know. All I know is that I am going in a house just to have a picnic for one month.”

My Nmae is Khan’ under the co-production of Karan Johar and Shahrukh Khan has made a record for being the film sold for the highest amount so far. Fox Star Studios have bought the marketing and distribution rights for the film a whopping Rs 100 Crore, thus surpassing Rs. 90 crore deal for Aamir Khan starrer ‘Ghajini’ and Rs 70 Crore deal for ‘Om Shanti Om’. The film has been made with a budget of 55 Crore and has SRK and Kajol in the main lead. SRK here plays the role of a Muslim who suffers from the Asperger syndrome, a form of autism that impacts social interaction abilities. Things show the plight of the character when he is arrested as a suspected terrorist in post 9/11 Los Angeles after the authorities mistake his disability as suspicious behaviour.

Love Aaj Kal goes beyond boundaries

Love Aaj Kal has fetched a mind-boggling start in the international markets. A solo Saif Ali Khan starrer has never ever touched such numbers in the past in U.K., U.S.A. and Australia. The combined total from these three markets alone is approx. Rs. 10 crores in its opening weekend. Extra-ordinary… The film has also performed exceptionally well in U.A.E. and Pakistan
The reports of Love Aaj Kal are good, the audience feedback is positive and the opening weekend is expected to be humungous. In fact, the first weekend numbers of the film should easily find a place amongst the biggest openers ever. Another advantage is the Raksha Bandhan holiday on Wednesday [5th August], which will add that extra revenue to the booty.

Love Aaj Kal has cost Rs. 42 crores to its producers [Saif Ali Khan and Dinesh Vijan] and with P & A costs included, the final cost works out to approx. Rs. 48 crores [for Eros]. A major chunk of business is expected to be recovered from the domestic market, while Overseas is expected to be huge as well. In fact, the Thursday night shows in Pakistan were bigger than that of Kambakkht Ishq. Even UAE was higher than Kambakkht Ishq, where Love Aaj Kal collected approx. 6,50,000 Dirhams on its first day.

Dev and Freida together at ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ screening in London

They might be denying the rumors of their romantic linkup, but just one look at the glowing couple exuding warmth and joy in each other’s company and there is no doubt about the fact that they do share something special between them. Still basking in the success of their Oscar-winning debut venture, ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, Dev Patel and Freida Pinto made an appearance on the stage before the Film4 Summer Screen screening of ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ at Somerset House in London.The couple were so glued to each other all night that it seemed that they no longer cared anymore for keeping their romance under wraps. Insiders also have it that Dev has been paying visits to Freida’s London hotel. Freida is staying at The May Fair Hotel and, even though Dev doesn’t have a room there, he has been there constantly.

Katrina wants to get back to Mumbai. 'I'm not used to being fussed over. My mother is constantly inquiring about my food. That gets to me because basically I'm a loner,' said the actress who turned 25 July 16.
