Sanjay Dutt jumped off running train for 'Luck'

Sanjay Dutt jumped off a speeding train blindfolded and with his hands tied behind his back - for a death-defying Rs.1.5 crore (Rs.15 million) scene in "Luck".According to director Soham Shah, Sanjay's sequence is the "biggest and the most expensive" highlight of the film."It is Sanju's (Sanjay's) introductory sequence. Along with other actors, he jumps from a running train, blindfolded with his hands tied behind his back. The scene is about these characters testing their luck," Shah said in a press statement.

"When we narrated the scene to him, he said he didn't want to use any safety measures or dummies. He was kicked about shooting such a high-voltage action scene on his own," said Shah, who had kept cables and harnesses ready for the safety of his actors.

Commenting upon the scene, Sanjay said: "I hadn't shot such a hardcore action sequence in a long time. So when the opportunity arose, I decided to do it myself. Initially, I was a bit nervous but then I gauged the jump from the cage in the train to the tracks. After the jump, we had to speed away from the train and keep running. For that split second, I had my heart in my mouth but fortunately things went well."

The entire sequence, which involved five trains, was supervised by ace action director Allan Amin and was canned in Goa."The train sequence was technically impossible to set up in Mumbai or any other big city, so we shot it in Goa. The authorities helped us and some trains were kept on standby for a couple of days. It was a very expensive shoot. A five-day shoot with five trains a day cost us over Rs.1.5 crore.

Katrina Kaif breaks down at special screening of New York

Last week at a special screening of Kabir Khan's New York, Katrina Kaif broke down after watching the film. "It was embarrassing. This has never happened to me before. I was deeply moved by the film. And I couldn't believe what my director Kabir Khan had achieved in my performance. I kept staring at myself. 'That's me!' I exclaimed at the end of the film."

This is the first time that Katrina has played a character who echoes her own personality. "So far all my characters have been pretty alien to me. Even the London girl in Chandigarh in Namastey London was not at all like me. But the girl in New York connects deeply with me. Or do I connect with her? It's symbiotic, I think," she says.When he saw what synthesis of 'actor' and 'character' had been achieved she simply broke down.

Remembering that evening, Katrina says, "It was a very private screening. Only members of the cast, our director his wife and the producer were there. I've never been so impressed by any of my films. So far they've all been in the orbit of escapist entertainment. New York is my first realistic film. I'm proud of all my films. But this is new chapter in my career."

Katrina will be devoting the next two weeks solely to promoting the film. "So far our producers Yash Raj Films haven't allowed us to talk about New York. Even now I can't talk much about it without giving away the plot. But I'm very proud of what we've done."

Simi Garewal's role was cut out in 'Short Kut

Warsi was excited about his 'Rendezvous with Simi Garewal' in forthcoming film "Short Kut - The Con", but he was disappointed when the entire sequence was chopped off from the final cut.

"It's unfortunate but we had to let go of the sequence. This was done to keep the film's length in check. We wanted the film to be as close to the two-hour running length as possible. The film is now two hours and seven minutes and we didn't want to exceed it any further," Anil Kapoor, the producer of "Short Kut", told IANS.The comedy has been directed by Neeraj Vora and is set to release July 10.

If the scene would have been retained, Simi would have made a comeback on the big screen after over two decades. She was last seen in her directorial debut "Rukhsat" (1988) where she had Mithun Chakraborty and Anuradha Patel for company."The scene had turned out quite well actually," said Arshad, who was expecting his 'rendezvous' with the graceful actress to be a hit among audiences.

"It was shot just like the way her shows are done with the white colour sets all intact. I had to act as this superstar actor Raju (the character which I play in the film) who gets this opportunity to make an appearance on her show.

"So there she is all sophisticated and elegant, while I behave as this cool star wearing those fancy, colourful and over the top clothes. The dialogues are really funny too as I start blabbering all that nonsense around how big

a fan I am of hers," added Arshad.Couldn't the scene have been retained?

"Well, some things can't be helped," said Anil. "Sometimes to make things perfect, you have to sacrifice some good things as well. Unfortunately, the Simi sequence is one of those good things."

But the entire 'rendezvous' sequence has been retained to make it to the 'deleted scenes' section in the film's DVD and hence can be seen on the small screen."Yes, it will be there in the DVD. We can't let go off such a nice scene. It would make a good inclusion in the DVD and her fans won't be cheated," said Anil.

Arshad added: "Why just this scene -- there are so many other scenes that have turned out to be really marvellous but can't make it to the theatrical version. I'm sure if put together in a second DVD, they could all make for an altogether separate movie by itself.""Short Kut" also stars Akshaye Khanna and Amrita Rao, while Anil and Sanjay Dutt make special appearances for an item number.

Akshaye Khanna

Akshaye Khanna shared screen space with his dad Vinod Khanna in his debut film "Himalay Putra" 12 years ago. The actor is now longing to act with the veteran thespian once again.

"I would love to (act with my father). Dad is a superb actor and my idol. At the moment there is no project in the pipeline... let's hope somebody would come to us with a fantastic script that would do justice to him as an actor," Akshaye told IANS in an email interview.

The actor, who has done hit films like "Border", "Taal", "Dil Chahta Hai" and "Hungama" among others, is ready with his first release of the year "Short Kut - The Con Is On", an Anil Kapoor production.

Talking about his role in the film that also stars Arshad Warsi and Amrita Arora in pivitol roles, Akshaye said he plays the role Anil was slated to essay.

"I'm playing a struggling assistant who wants to become a successful director. Earlier Anil was supposed to do my role and I was to do Arshad's but later he decided just to produce it and not to get into acting," he said.

"The script was first written by Anees Bazmi and then rewritten by Neeraj Vora, both geniuses at comedy. So I was assured that the film is going to be hilarious," said the actor, who is known to have great comic timing.

"Short Kut" is Akshaye's second film with Anil Kapoor as producer, the first one being the critically-acclaimed "Gandhi My Father". Asked about his camaraderie with the actor-producer, Akshaye said Anil is like an elder brother to him.

"Anil is like my elder brother. It was great working with him once again. It was almost like working for my own production house. What I like the best about him is that he puts his soul behind the films he makes and that encourages everyone to work harder," Akshaye said.

So how easy is it to carry off a comedy?

"I'm very comfortable with comedy, although doing comedy is very tough because it should come naturally to you when you are in front of the camera and (it) should not look forced. If the act looks forced, it would get translated on screen and people won't enjoy watching it. You have to try all the more hard to look natural on screen," said the 34-year-old who has no plans for marriage in the near future.The actor has two projects lined up.

"I am doing a film again with Anil kapoor titled 'No Problem'. It is directed by Anees Bazmi and then a thriller with Priyadarshan which is based on a report that had appeared in a newspaper some time ago."So how does he look back at the 12 years in the film industry"I am happy with whatever I have got professionally. I am happy that the industry and people have accepted me as an actor. No regrets as such. You learn from what you do. I am still learning," he said.

All of the DJs asked me if I thought Michael Jackson could make a comeback. They wanted to know if he could get past the controversies that dominated his news coverage over the last 10-plus years. My answer was a matter-of-fact "yes."People often underestimate the power of music, and the effect that it has on us. We sometimes forget how a great song with a feel-good message lifts us up, and makes us smile and remember the place we had the most fun dancing to it and with whom. Michael Jackson is one of the few artists in the history of the art form to be able to take one song, like "Billie Jean," and reach people of all age groups, races, and nationalities.

Michael has done this time and time again for decades, as both a solo artist and member of The Jackson 5.This type of legacy cannot be erased by even the most horrible of charges and allegations. His music and performances are historic and forever engrained in our hearts.

Rick Sanchez, a floor manager at the popular Amoeba Music in Hollywood, says that his staff was "equally shocked" when they heard the news of Jackson's passing. I was 10, and whenever the high school girls on my block told me that I was cute and looked like Michael Jackson, I blushed and took it as a huge compliment.My 6 1/2-year-old twins know and love his music as do the rest of us. This will never change.

I know he had been dealing with a lot these last few years. I hope that at the time of his passing he was in a happy place. Reportedly, he had been rehearsing in Los Angeles for the last two months, preparing for his London dates. His 50-year-old life may have been short, but it was impactful. His accomplishments are tremendous.I offer my sincere condolences to his children, parents, siblings, and other family members, and to his friends and fans.

The place horrified the delicate beauty so much that she was left drained and gloomy after her visit to the place. When she came face to face with the stories of brutality and tortures associated with the prison, she was absolutely shocked.

A depressed Katrina said, “We are not making a documentary on 9/11 and so this film is highly entertaining yet very realistic. We shot in actual locations associated with the 9/11 attacks and Guantanamo was one of them. I was there for just a day to shoot my portions. It was shocking to see the high-profile prison where people who were sentenced for their lives were also living.”

“I did not meet any person arrested and jailed in connection with the terror attacks. But I have heard stories about them when I was shooting there. Some most wanted criminals have stayed there”, she added.

Tamanna, a young participant from Chandigarh could not reach the finals but gained enough popularity due to her linkup with fellow participant Nauman, and also for her catfights with other contestant, Palak. Now, Tamanna is blaming Palak for this and says that the girl in the video is not she. She also goes on to say that another sex video featuring Palak and Bobby (another contestant) can be found on the net. To this, Palak replied, , “If you find my sex clip, publish it”.
