Mallika Sherawat is certainly among the better known Bollywood stars in the West. Only recently, the actress was invited as a special guest at a Wine-Tasting Luncheon at the Malibu Family Wines, Malibu, California. Mallika was also involved in a celebrity auction as a part of a fundraiser hosted by IFFLA (Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles) whereby the highest bidder got a chance to spend a day with her at a professional photo shoot and have lunch with her.Now, while the sexy actress is in Los Angeles for the post-production work on her much-talked about project Hissss (with Hollywood director Jennifer Lynch), she recently attended an elite luncheon hosted by the Mayor of LA. Although the gorgeous lady has been in LA for only four short weeks, she is already rubbing shoulders with the who's who of the glamorous city.She will also be attending the weekend's Fangoria Conference at the LA Convention Center to talk about Hissss and interact with fans there.Well, Madame Sherawat certainly seems to be getting world-famous day by day.

Prithvi Raj Kapoor will be honored posthumously with Phalke Kalptaru Award and his 2nd, 3rd and 4th generations will be present to receive this honor. Ashutosh Gowariker will be the recipient of Phalke Memorable Commercial Film Award on this occasion, where Mahesh Bhatt will be the chief guest.

Siddharth Anand's next to star Ranbir, Priyanka?

Mumbai, April 16 (IANS) After teaming up with Ranbir Kapoor in the hit film "Bachna Ae Haseeno", director Siddharth Anand has signed his childhood buddy for his next film too. The surprising thing is the casting of Priyanka Chopra opposite the young actor for the first time."It is a romantic comedy, which I've specialised in over the years. But this is a twisted one with a twang and all that jazz," Anand told IANS.Though neither producer Sajid Nadiadwala nor Anand are willing to confirm, but according to dependable sources, Priyanka who is currently shooting with Uday Chopra for Yash Raj Films' "Pyar Impossible", will be cast opposite Ranbir.

The actress has lately been window-shopping for the hottest male actors in Bollywood and has so far managed films superstar Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. She also has several projects with Abhishek Bachchan, Akshay Kumar and Hrithik Roshan.And Priyanka has just completed "Kaminay" with Shahid Kapur. She is now on to the new generation of stars with Ranbir leading the bright pack. The pairing spree certainly gives Priyanka an edge over her rivals.It seems the never-say-die friendship between director Anand and actor Saif Ali Khan is over for all practical purposes. After their two films together "Salaam Namaste" and "Ta Ra Rum Pum", the two had sworn to work together again.But "Ta Ra Rum Pum" didn't do well and Anand quickly gravitated towards his childhood buddy Ranbir for his next film "Bachna Ae Haseeno", which was a hit.After "Bachna Ae Haseeno", it was widely believed that Saif would be back in Anand's next for Nadiadwala.

Anushka Sharma loses chance to do Arundhati remake

It's touted as the biggest hit in the history of Telugu cinema. And now Arundhati is all set to be remade into Hindi.

Many producers including Ghajini's Madhu Mantena were vying for the Hindi remake rights. But the producer of the Telugu version M. Shyam Prasad Reddy has decided to remake the film in Hindi.Sonu Sood who played the main antagonist in the Telugu film and is all set to encore the same part in Hindi, confirms these developments.Confirming these developments Sood says, "I'm excited because we all worked very hard on making the Telugu original something special. Lots of producers wanted to remake it in Hindi. But now the original producer has decided to go for it. The Hindi Arundhati will be far more expensive and polished. We start shooting in June. "Sood has already started preparing for the part. "The Hindi version will have to be severely revised."The remakes expert Priyadarshan was approached to direct Arundhati in Hindi. Apparently Priyan has no time at such short notice."And the original director Kodi Ramkrishna can't understand Hindi. So we're probably going with a guy named Rahul who did all the special effects in Tamil."

And now for the most crucial question. Who plays the central role of Arundhati in this woman-dominated film? Though no one is willing to commit to any name sources reveal that the makers of Arundhati were very keen to sign Anushka Sharma who starred with Shah Rukh Khan in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.Says the source, "They needed someone strong robust young and determined and very North Indian as the lead in Hindi. They really wanted Anushka Sharma. She was perfect. But the producer was under the impression that she's under contract with Yashraj Films and unable to do any outside film. Now they might settle for the actress who played the lead in the Telugu Arundhati in Hindi. Coincidentally her name too is Anushka."Surprisingly, Arjan (Fashion) Bajwa who played the romantic lead in Arundhati is not part of the Hindi remake.When questioned, Arjan says, "They haven't asked me. Even if they had I wouldn't do it. Have you seen what has been done to my role in the Telugu film?"
