Jeetendra gets 'boot'ed at an election rally

jeetendra.jpg

It all started with a boot being hurled at George W. Bush and the so called trend has soon spread like wild fire world over. After the numerous shoe throwing incidences in India, this time it was yesteryear's star Jeetendra who was the latest target when a slipper was thrown at him during a Congress party road show in a Maharashtra town on Tuesday.

Jeetendra was addressing a road show that was organized by the Congress candidate Manikrao Gavit in the town of Nandurbar, when someone from the crowd chucked a slipper at him.The congregation gathered was over 3000 in strength, so figuring out who actually threw the slipper at the actor was hard to figure. However, party activists immediately pounced on the offender - apparently identified as Dilip Ingle - and took him away. While the motive behind his slipper chucking was not clear, Jeetendra surely must be one unhappy man with the treatment meted out to him.

Shekhar Kapur slams British tabloid for 'Slumdog...' sting

shekharkapur.jpg

acclaimed filmmaker Shekhar Kapur has criticised the British tabloid that conducted a sting on "Slumdog Millionaire" child star Rubina Ali's father Rafiq Qureshi.Kapur who directed a soft drinks advertisement with the nine-year-old and Hollywood actress Nicole Kidman recently in Udaipur in Rajasthan has slammed the media organisation for the report and suggested that the "British tabloid needs to be condemned for the sting operation".

"I just worked with Rubina, the little girl from 'Slumdog Millionaire' and what a joy she was to work with...I had been reading about what was going on with her father's alleged attempts to 'sell' her. I was aghast though at the sting operation done by that British tabloid, which instead of being condemned worldwide is being heralded as a great piece of journalism," Kapur posted on his blog Tuesday.

What was the tabloid trying to do? Trying to push a father to name a price for his daughter's adoption?...How dare they judge and manipulate other people and their moral predicaments from their comfortable colonial point of view. I would rather have them arrested for obscene suggestions and offers than the father for coming to the negotiating table," he added.

The online edition of the tabloid newsoftheworld.co.uk had reported that in a bid to escape slum life, Qureshi put Rubina up for adoption, demanding 200,000 pounds from the organisation's undercover reporters posing as a wealthy family from Dubai.

Bollywood actor Purab Kohli decided to take a trip down the wild side by diving into the great blue ocean in South Africa in the company of sharks - an experience he describes as the "most thrilling and scary moment" of his life. While on a recent visit to South Africa, Kohli, a trained deep sea diver, took a plunge into the ocean."I decided to do something different and went for this special tour. Soon I found myself in a cage which was attached to the boat. They put out a bait of flesh and blood and before we knew it I was surrounded by these gigantic creatures about 15 feet long," Purab said in a press release."As they drew close to the bait, the bait was pulled closer to me. Needless to say the sharks followed."Soon the great white hungry shark was barely 12 inches away from me and when she bit into that piece of meat I could see her saw-like teeth in full close up! So there I was, suspended in a cage deep down in the blue sea while this giant creature had lunch right next to my face! It was the most thrilling and scary moment of my life," he recounted.

The actor, who won rave reviews for his performance in hit film "Rock On!!", says he would love to experience such thrills again."She was so beautiful and scary at the same time. The shark was so close to me, it seemed she could kill me in a single bite with that jagged line of teeth. I am definitely looking forward to doing this again and recommend it to all," he said.
