Bollywood biggies turn up to cast their Vote
Finally the D-day has arrived and it's the turn of Mumbaikars to exercise their vote today (30th April, 2009) for the on-going Elections. Even our B-town celebs weren't behind when it came to exercising their vote. The Mumbai North-Central constituency (comprising Bandra and the adjoining areas) was abuzz with activity as it saw some of the biggest Bollywood stars come down and exercise their vote. Bollywood Hungama brings you a sneak peek at all the action which took place on E-Day.
A couple of days ago 'Baadshah of Bollywood' Shah Rukh Khan was busy motivating his team 'Knight Riders' at the IPL matches in South Africa. However, as a responsible citizen of the country, King Khan especially flew down to cast his vote. The actor was dressed in a grey tee and was accompanied by his wife Gauri. Considering the way his team has been performing at the IPL matches, we're sure Khan thought its best to come back to Mumbai as soon as possible.
Aamir Khan has always been very active in supporting social causes. In fact the actor recently was also part of a Government initiative encouraging to citizens to vote. Hence, it was no surprise to see the actor turn up to cast his vote. Aamir, dressed in a simple white kurta, happily posed for the shutterbugs and showed the kala tikka on his ungli.
Often referred to as the 'First Family of Bollywood', the Bachchans comprising of Amitabh, Jaya, Abhishek and Aishwarya turned up in full attendance to cast their vote. It was interesting to see all of them dressed in white. AB Jr. even wore a tee relevant to the occasion. However, while posing for the media persons Amitabh, Abhishek and Aishwarya happily showed their inked fingers even as Jaya tried to hide her face in embarrassment. Now ...don't ask why?
The crowds went crazy when 'Munnabhai' Sanjay Dutt walked in to cast his vote. Sanju may have been denied a chance to contest the elections but he did exercise his right to vote as a citizen of India. After all that has happened in the Dutt family in the recent past, one wonders if he would have voted for his sister Priya Dutt or her rival parties. Well...your guess is as good as ours!
Ranbir Kapoor, dressed in a smart pink shirt was among the younger breed of actors who came to vote. The actor sported a completely new bearded look which is supposedly for his role in Shimit Amin's next with YRF, rumoured to be titled Rocket Singh- Salesman Of The Year.'Serial Kisser' Emraan Hashmi was also spotted at the voting centre. The actor dressed in a green checked shirt obliged the hungry photographers by posing for a quick snap.
The original 'Dream Girl' of Bollywood, Hema Malini, turned up with her daughter Esha to cast her vote. The mother- daughter duo caused a flutter among the shutterbugs who couldn't stop asking Hemaji for bytes. After all, considering Hemaji is an active politician herself, they were all eager to hear from her about her views on the elections this time.
After the mother-daughter duo, it was the turn of the father-son jodi of Yash Chopra and Uday Chopra to cast their vote. While both Yashji and Uday posed for the cameras showing their inked finer, we can't help but wonder why Uday is doing carrying a red rose in his hand? Someone needs to remind him that today is V-Day stands for Voting Day and not Valentines Day.
