Nihal Singh from Chandigarh is a seemingly simple yet unconventional boy. He talks too much, questions everything and builds complicated gadgets in his spare time. He has a brilliant mind and an oddball sort of charm. He adores his mother, has dreams of studying in the most elite institute of science and always looks for big ideas in small things.

When he is accepted into his dream college in Bombay city, he is over the moon. College is a whole new world, full of color, new people and new challenges to be met. Initially nobody takes him seriously. He is ragged by his seniors, insulted by the girl he likes and so on. Nihal, however, slowly wins them over. The girl Nihal likes is Meesha. She is the spoilt brat of the college. She is proud, rude and rolling in money. And she cannot accept that Nihaal is managing to charm everyone. Including Professor Verma, the warden of the college. Professor Verma is fascinated by Nihals unique mind and agrees to become his mentor.

Suddenly Nihals world is rudely interrupted. Nihal gets visions of Meesha being in danger. He saves her life and his secret is revealed. Sikandar

Sikandar Raza is a 14 year old schoolboy in Kashmir. Ever since his parents were killed by militants 10 years back, he has lived with his aunt and uncle, in a small town in Kashmir. All Sikandars desires revolve around the happiness of his foster parents, and getting the ball into the goal on the football field.

One day, on his way home from a school football match, Sikandar finds a gun lying on the path. Despite admonishments by his newly made school friend, the 14 year old Nasreen, Sikandar picks up the gun, and thus begins a journey into the darker side of his nature.

The quiet yet strong Nasreen becomes Sikandars conscience keeper. She tries to dissuade him from giving in to the lure of the gun.

However, all is not what it seems. Sikandar gets embroiled further and further in situations beyond his control, and people get killed. At first it seems that the happenings occurring alongside Sikandars predicament are not connected. But, as layer upon layer unravels, it becomes clear that Sikandar is the innocent victim in a game being played out between the militants, the army, the peace bartering politicians and the religious heads of the little Kashmiri town.
