Vashu Bhagnani's 'Kal Kissne Dekha

Vashu Bhagnani is back in the film arena with son Jackky's debut film ‘Kal Kissne Dekha’.

fter a 4-year gap, Vashu Bhagnani is back in the film arena with son Jackky's debut film ‘Kal Kissne Dekha’. Not many are aware that Vashu had signed Vivek Sharma much before Vivek directed ‘Bhoothnath’. "I wanted to entrust the responsibility of Jackky's debt film to someone who was talented and I could see the spark in Vivek when I interacted with him several years ago," Vashu tells me.

Vashu had also approached Gautam Menon [Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein] and even Ken Ghosh, but things didn't work out. "Vivek called one evening, he had hit upon a story-idea for Jackky's launch. That's how ‘Kal Kissne Dekha’ took off," he recalls.

Having worked with seasoned actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, Govinda and several others, how was it working with two newcomers [Jackky, Vaishali] this time? "Honestly, I was skeptical as far as the economics was concerned. But, as a father, I was supremely optimistic. Jackky showed tremendous discipline in his work. Also, he doesn't look like a first-timer at all," Vashu says proudly.

If detractors had their way, KAL KISSNE DEKHA wouldn't have been possible. Ok, so it may have possibly been made but then director Vivek Sharma (of BHOOTHNATH fame) wouldn't have been at the driver's seat. Reason? The moment he confirmed his association with this Vashu Bhagnani production, there were many so called well wishers who discouraged him from making the film.

Though Vivek doesn't take names or states the content of his conversations with those who dissuaded him from working on the project, he does admit that it wasn't the best of the beginning of his association with KAL KISSNE DEKHA which is the launch pad of Jackky Bhagnani and Vaishali Desai.

''The moment people heard of KAL KISSNE DEKHA, they called/SMS me not to do this film. However, I had made commitments with open eyes. I decided to support Jackky Bhagnani and went ahead with this project'', says Vivek who didn't begin work on any other project even though offers were pouring in after BHOOTHNATH which was a rare film in the recent times to bring together Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. Talking about the subject, Vivek divulges, ''In 2005 end, I met Vashuji (Bhagnani) and narrated him some other stories. However, he was not too pleased as he wanted nothing but the best for his son's launch pad. After a few meetings, things didn't move and I got busy with BHOOTHNATH. But again Vashu ji sent me a message that he wanted to start his son's film. I knew that the subject of KAL KISSNE DEKHA was a fresh concept and will make for an interesting film. Impulsively, I narrated the film to him and he was all on board. Soon, we were ready with the announcement.''
