The dutiful daughter Bipasha Basu is gifting her parents an all-expenses paid trip to the US. Mr and Mrs Basu will be in Obama country next month. The day we caught up with the sexy actress she was going with her dad to the US consulate to arrange for their visas. Bipasha says, "Giving them a holiday is the least I can do. Though my dad has travelled all around the world this will be his first trip to the US. Mom has been there before. I want to make it very special for them. We are still deciding on their route and which cities they will visit. In fact I keep telling them to splurge but my dad refuses to spend my money. Mom is as bad. She will love spending her husband's money but not mine!"When asked why she wasn't joining them Bips smiles, "My parents are very independent and self-sufficient and love travelling on their own. Last year they visited Europe by themselves. Also, they will be gone for a month. I can't take that much time off from my work schedule," says Bipasha who starts shooting for Rohit Shetty's All The Best next month.Though Bipasha is happy to pack her parents off to the US she's greatly disappointed by the poor response to Aa Dekhe Zara and blames it on the multiplex strike. “I am disheartened. This is my first film that I have felt so terrible about, otherwise normally I move on quickly. We work so hard for a film. Money and effort go into it and then the film doesn't get a proper release it's unfair! The multiplex owners should understand what film producers go through. I have no problem with the producers as they promoted it to the best of their abilities. If we had released it in the multiplexes it would have definitely done so much better. It makes one feel so helpless."The actress was so disappointed that she took a day off from work and spent it by her beau John Abraham who was in Hyderabad shooting for Hook Ya Crook. She recalls, "I was feeling very low so I called up John. He asked me to join him there and I just flew down. When I reached there I told him that I just wanted to sleep and watch
Sanjay Dutt, who is presently in Lucknow campaigning for the Samajwadi Party, is amused with the rumours of trouble between him and wife Manyata because he didn't "allow" her to contest the elections in his place.Dutt says, "People are saying that Maana and I fought because I refused to let her enter politics and allow her to contest from the Lucknow seat this time. Come on Maana is not a greedy person. She was never interested in politics or power but only in looking after her husband and home." Rubbishing reports of a fight between them Dutt says angrily, "What is a damn ticket? We are above that and love and respect each other. Every normal couple has arguments. Please let us be normal. Maana has gone to London for her textile business. If she's not travelling with me in Bihar it's because I am campaigning in the remote and rough areas it's difficult for her to travel with me everywhere."He laughs off rumours that she is in the Bahamas for a property deal. "In today's times of recession who would think of buying property in the Bahamas? If we had to buy property we would buy it in Goa. Maana had gone to the Bahamas with her friends now she's in London, meeting up with her friends there, and shopping. I have given her a big list for her to shop for me," he grins. When asked if Maana doesn't mind Sanju chauvinistic comments like her place is at home and she rules the kitchen, etc, he says firmly, "No Maana doesn't mind. She's a very homely person. For her home and family is first. She has great qualities rare in today's times and I am lucky to have her. Maana is loving, caring, witty, with a great sense of humour and very sacrificing that's Maana for you. Oh! And I forgot she's a great cook too!"Dutt is touched by the affection shown by the people of Bihar towards him. He's been flying in choppers all over the state campaigning for the SP. Dutt says, "There have been massive crowds wherever I have gone. I am amazed at the love and affection they have shown me. When I see the appalling conditions the people live here it brings tears in my eyes. Why have a CM in Bihar if we are not willing to provide them basic infra structure like food, clothing, water ?" About roughing it out on the campaign trail he says, "I was in boarding school for 10 years and in jail for nearly four. Who else better than me would know how to rough it out
Ajay Devgan
Ajay Devgan, who turned 40 on Thursday (yesterday), said it felt like any other day. “Is 40 really a special age to be? I don’t feel anything Special. It’s like any other day. I shot the entire day. No celebrations, nothing that I don’t do normally.”Nudge him a little more, and Ajay admits there was a family get-together on his birthday. “My entire family, my parents, sister, brother-in-law, my wife and daughter were all together for a dinner. But that’s something I do every time I get the chance. Yes, there was a cake. But I didn’t cut it. My daughter did.”Life at 40 for Ajay means more work. “All the Best, the comedy directed by Rohit Shetty that I’m producing, is currently being shot. So I was busy shooting that. For me there’s no life as satisfying as work and family.”Ajay will be directing a film later this year. “It will be a dark comic thriller. And no, there will be no Kajol in it. For those who want to see us together there’s the animation film Toonpur Ka Super-hero.” Ajay admits the animation film is taking longer than expected. “But that isn’t because of recession. Animation is a very time-taking process. It needs lots of patience.”Any new promises to keep at 40? “None I feel physically and creatively fitter at 40 than I did at 30. The only new resolution is to devote more time to my blog. It has been renovated. I had been neglecting it. But now I intend to devote time regularly to it. Otherwise everything is the same. I still refuse to work with those I don’t like.”
